BOONE, N.C. – On Aug. 17, 2025, App State Soccer upset Miami 1-0 in Boone for the program's first victory over an ACC opponent. On Thursday in Coral Gables, Fla., the Mountaineers will look to repeat that success against the Hurricanes. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. on the ACC Network Extra.
App State (4-1-1) enters the contest on a five-match unbeaten streak, following a dramatic come-from-behind win on Sunday against William & Mary. Despite dominating on the stat sheet, the Mountaineers conceded the game's first goal in the 78
th minute of play. App State responded quickly with

th minute to clinch its third consecutive victory. App State is off to its best start to the season since 2007, when the squad opened play 5-0-2 before suffering its first setback. Bermingham leads the mountaineers with three goals on the season and is tied with
Lucy Harrington for the team lead with six points. Through six games the Mountaineers have six different goal scorers, matching the team's total from last season. The Mountaineers lead the Sun Belt and rank ninth nationally in corner kicks per game (9.0), while also leading the league in shots per contest (16.33), while the defense has recorded three shutouts.
Miami (4-1-0) has won four consecutive matches, following an opening night setback at Jacksonville. Most recently, the Hurricanes defeated Incarnate Word, 2-1, last Thursday, erasing a 1-0 second half deficit and scoring the game-winning goal in the 85
th minute. Zoie Fontenot leads the Hurricanes with three goals and six points. The team has outshot its opponents by 48 attempts and outgained the opposition by 25 corner kicks. Miami was picked 16
th out of 17 teams in the ACC Preseason poll. The Hurricanes went 7-8-3 overall and 1-7-2 in league play last season.
Last season's win over Miami in Boone was the first meeting between the two programs.
Ellie Garrison broke a scoreless deadlock with a penalty kick goal in the 80
th minute of play. Despite being outshot 16-5 and outgained 11-2 in corner kicks, the Mountaineers defense did not break, posting six saves and a clean sheet. It marked the program's first power conference victory since defeating Maryland in 2016.
