SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- For the second straight race,
Phylissa Greeley finished first overall and Appalachian State women's cross country claimed the team title at the USC Upstate Invitational on Saturday morning.
The Mountaineers finished with 23 points. Campbell was second with 66 points and Sun Belt foe Georgia State was third with 82 points.
App State posted three of the top-five finishers in the race and nine of the top-20 overall.
"While our times weren't super fast, our top-five kept tight as a pack and chased after Campbell," said head coach
Michael Curcio. "I'm happy for Phylissa. A runner was able to pull away from the pack early, but she was able to keep her composure and move past her just at the crest of the final hill to get the win."
Greeley, who has already been named Sun Belt Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week twice this season, crossed first for the second consecutive race in 18:04.8
Izzy Evely recorded a third-place finish in 18:14.15 and
Emily Fedders was fourth with a time of 18:17.7.
Samantha Kolor finished sixth in 18:21.9 and
Katelyn Butler was ninth in 18:30.1.
Also finishing in the top-20 for the Black and Gold was

Elisa Sargent (12th in 18:41.6),
