BOONE, N.C. - The App State men's and women's cross country teams are set to compete in Notre Dame's Joe Piane Invitational at the Burke Golf Course in Notre Dame, Ind. The men's team will compete in the men's blue 8K, set for 11:15 a.m., and the women's team will compete in the women's open 5K at 12 p.m. and women's gold 5K at 1:30 p.m.
The field of competition in the men's blue 8K race will include Adams State, App State, Belmont, Boise State, Bradley, California Baptist, Cincinnati, Grand Valley State, Liberty, Miami (Ohio), Michigan State, Northern Arizona, Notre Dame, Purdue, Texas Tech, Washington State, Wyoming, and Youngstown State.
The field of competition in the women's gold 5K will include Akron, App State, Ball State, Cincinnati, Cleveland State, Dayton, IU Indianapolis, Indiana State, Miami (Ohio), Milwaukee, Northern Illinois, Pepperdine, Purdue Fort Wayne, St. Thomas (Minn.) Texas A&M Corpus Christi, Valparaiso, Western Illinois, Western Michigan, Windsor, Green Bay, La Crosse, and Youngstown State.

The Mountaineers hosted the Firetower Project Run on Sept. 13. The men's team clinched first with a score of 24 points, and the women's team secured second with a team score of 63 points.
In the men's 8K, redshirt senior
Calbert Guest clinched first with a personal best of 23:45.37. Junior
Ethan Lipham was the next Mountaineer to cross the finish line with a time of 24:20.25 to round out the top-five. Taking sixth and seventh were redshirt junior
Chase Burrell (24:30.08, PR) and freshman
Rowan Gwin (24:21.66, PR), respectively. In his debut in the Black and Gold, graduate student
Ethan Turner rounded out the top-10 with a time of 24:34.02.
Senior
Jasmine Donohue set pace for the Mountaineers in the women's 6K, clocking a personal best time of 21:08.23 to place eighth. Seniors
Lauren Johnston (21:25.63),
Emma Russum (21:33.67), and
Lana Farris (21:43.22, PR) finished among the top-15. With a time of 21:50.92, freshman Bre Budzinski clocked a 6K personal best.
