LYNCHBURG, Va. - App State senior
Jasmine Donohue set a new program record in the women's 5,000 meters, which highlighted the Mountaineers' first day of competition at Liberty's Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational in Lynchburg, Va. on Friday.
Donohue set a new personal best and program record with a time of 16:31.02 to clinch first in the invitational section of the women's 5,000 meters. The previous App State record was 16:39.75, set in 2015 by Tristin Van Ord.
With Donohue's new record, the Mountaineers have broken at least one program record at each regular season meet during the 2024-25 indoor campaign. The Mountaineers have tallied six broken program records so far this year, resetting the 600 meters, 1,000 meters, 3,000 meters, 5,000 meters, pole vault, and distance medley relay (DMR) records.
Donohue's 5,000-meter record is the second individual record she has broken this year, having reset the App State 3,000-meter record with a time of 9:32.67 at the Orange and Purple Invitational on Jan. 25. She also helped the Mountaineers break the DMR record, running the anchor leg at the Doc Hale Invitational on Feb. 8.
