BLACKSBURG, Va. / WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – A new App State and Sun Belt indoor women's pole vault record punctuated the weekend's action at the Doc Hale VT Meet and Camel City Distance meet on Saturday. The App State women's track and field team also saw a pair of first-place finishes and 23 top 10 finishes on the weekend between the two meets.
Doc Hale VT Meet
Sophomore
Lilly Nichols reset her own program and conference record with a clearance of 4.27m (14' 0") in the seeded section of the women's pole vault. Nichols' previous record, which she set in her collegiate debut last season, was 4.26m (13' 11.75"). Nichols placed sixth overall in Saturday's competition, followed by senior
Ava Studney, who placed eighth with a season best clearance of 3.97m (13' 0.25").
Freshman
Ashlynn Wimberly registered first-place finishes in the women's high jump and women's triple jump. Wimberly cleared a bar of 1.66m (5' 5.25") in the women's high jump, which was 0.02m (0' 0.75") shy of her personal best of 1.68m (5' 6"). In the women's long jump, Wimberly recorded a personal best leap of 12.43m (40' 9.5") and was followed by fellow freshman
Alana Braxton, who landed third with a leap of 12.22m (40' 1.25").

Nicole Wells rounded out the top 10 with a time of 24.86. Sophomore
Savannah Moore clocked a personal best of 2:13.07 to place ninth in the women's 800 meters. Her time elevated her to seventh all-time in the App State record book. Senior
Addison Ollendick-Smith (2:14.82) and freshman
Josie Jackson (2:14.94) joined Moore in the event's top 15.
Camel City Distance
With a toss of 12.97m (42' 6.75"), sophomore
Emily Edwards placed ninth in the women's shot put at the Camel City Distance meet. Fellow sophomore
Harlee Fonville joined Edwards in the top 15 with a toss of 12.36m (40' 6.75").
Friday Rewind
At the Doc Hale VT Meet on Friday, Braxton landed second in the women's long jump after matching her personal best leap of 5.98m (19' 7.5"). Sophomore
Jahaila Wright placed seventh with a season best leap of her own (5.57m (18' 3.25")). Four Mountaineers finished among the top 10 in the women's 400 meters, led by Alejandro-Ortiz, who stopped the clock at 56.13 to place third. Wells, sophomore
Ja'Naya Linder, and senior
Daye Talley clocked times of 56.58, 56.74, and 56.87, respectively. Junior
Jayla Adams (7.57), Wells (7.63), and Alejandro-Ortiz (7.66) finished among the top 10 in the women's 60-meter prelims.
With a personal best of 10:03.81, freshman
Tessa Massa placed eighth in the women's 3,000 meters. The Mountaineers also saw personal bests from Moore and Jackson in the women's mile as they stopped the clock at 4:58.89 and 4:59.39, respectively.
Meanwhile at the Camel City Sprints meet, Edwards rounded out the top five in the women's weight throw with a toss of 16.31m (53' 6.25"). Fonville placed sixth overall with a toss of 16.29m (53' 5.5"). On the track, sophomore
Zaniya Littlejohn stopped the clock at 25.08 to round out the top 15 in the seeded section of the women's 200 meters.
