Men's Tennis Set for Two Matches in Two Days

Hosts Tennessee Tech in Home Opener

BOONE, N.C. - App State men's tennis returns action this weekend when it faces Virginia Tech on Saturday at 1 p.m. in Blacksburg before hosting
Tennessee Tech in the home opener at 10 a.m.  on Sunday.

Last Time Out
App State opened the season with three matches in Tennessee in two days, going 1-2 with its lone win coming against Tennessee State. The Mountaineers fell to a pair of formidable opponents 
in Lipscomb and Chattanooga. 

Wins Update
After the first weekend, the Mountaineers have five players with one singles win, while the duo of Zion Heaven/Milo Bargeron and Alesso Azzalini and Campbell Stone each have a doubles win. 

Home Opener
App State will face Tennessee Tech in its home opener on Sunday at 11 a.m. at Deer Valley Racquet Club. 

Scouting Virginia Tech
The Hokies are 2-2 following a 4-3 win over Tulane last Sunday. Three student-athletes boast at least three wins in singles with Carlo Donato and Mitch Harper each boasting 4-0 records. At the No. 1 spot, Henrik Korsgaard is 3-1 heading into Saturday. VT is 14-9 in singles through its first four matches. Korsgaard/Alex Ribeiro are 3-0 as a tandem to lead VT in doubles. Three other duos have at least one win, giving the Hokies a 
6-5 mark. 

Scouting Tennessee Tech
Tennessee Tech is 0-3 after facing two Power Five programs, falling to Mississippi State twice and most recently Wake Forest. TTU is the fourth team from Tennessee that App State will have played this season through the first five matches. Elias Grubert is 2-1 in singles to lead the Golden Eagles, while Lucca Silva/Riku Kubota are the lone tandem to boast a victory in doubles. 

What's Next
The Mountaineers will hit the road next Sunday, Feb. 16 for an 11 a.m. tilt against ETSU in Johnson City.
