Men's Tennis Recognized by ITA as All-Academic Team

Five Mountaineers Named 2020 ITA Scholar Athletes

TEMPE, Ariz. - For a third straight year, App State men's tennis was named an Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-Academic team, registering a solid 3.55 GPA for the 2019-20 academic year. 

Five Mountaineers were named 2020 ITA Scholar-Athletes, which is the highest number of athletes that were honored under head coach Craig Schwartz. At least two athletes have been named a scholar athlete all three years. Also, the 3.55 GPA for the year is .28 points higher than in 2019. 

Blake Carter was recognized for a third time, while Zion Heaven is a scholar athlete for the second year in a row. Alessio Azzalini, Matvey Radionov and Aleksandar Petrovic were awarded as scholar athletes for the first time.

Zion Heaven - 4.0 GPA (Major: Business)
Matvey Radionov - 3.76 GPA (Major: Interdisciplinary Studies)
Aleksandar Petrovic - 3.55 GPA (Major: Computer Science)

App State was honored by the ITA in the spring for its community service efforts, as it earned a Community Service Honorable Mention award in the Carolina Region.
