Biography

Season was cut short due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

2019-20
Singles - Fall: Had perhaps is best season in singles as a Mountaineer, finishing second on the team with 10 singles victories through fall and spring matches ... eight of his wins came in the fall season .... won a career-long five straight contests, including an appearance in his flight title match at the River City Tennis Open ... Spring: totaled two wins in the spring in back-to-back matches against Winthrop (2/23) and UNCG (2/28) ... earned the clinching match point against the Eagles as the No. 6 in the lineup. 

Doubles - Fall: All 11 of his doubles matches came in the spring, earning five wins ... Three of his wins came with Karan Srivastava and two with Landon Church ... recorded a pair of victories against College of Charleston, Longwood and Richmond. 

2018-19
Singles - Fall: Won four matches during the fall campaign ... posted back-to-back victories on two occasions ... notched victories against Kennesaw State, North Carolina Wesleyan, Queens and USC Upstate ... Spring: Totaled three singles victories including two wins in three matches over spring break against Norfolk State (3/7) and Saint John's (DII/3/6) ... all three of his wins were in straight sets ...  was named an Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar. 

Doubles - Fall: Posted two wins in the fall with Will Hart and Campbell Stone ...  Spring: Participated in two matches for the Black and Gold. 

2017-18
Singles – Fall:
Earned his first collegiate win in a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Longwood at the UNC Wilmington Fall Tournament …Spring: Kicked off his spring campaign with a bang, opening on a four-match winning streak…his comeback win against Eastern Kentucky secured a 4-3 Appalachian team victory, the team’s fifth of the season…his six victories tied for fifth on the team…finished the season with a .500 winning percentage.

Doubles – Fall: Played in one doubles match with partner Campbell Stone in the UNC Wilmington Fall Invite …Spring: Finished the season 2-1 in doubles…both of his victories came in 6-1 score lines with wins over Lees-McRae and North Carolina A&T…played with three different partners…appeared in five total matches with two going unfinished.

HIGH SCHOOL
A three-star recruit according to tennisrecruiting.net while he is currently ranked in the top-10 in the state of North Carolina ... Carter ranked at an 11 in both singles and doubles competition according to UTR (UniversalTennisRating) ... played under Ken Stewart at Wakefield High School, Blake has been more than successful where he contributed to back-to-back state championships at Wakefield in 2014 and 2015 ... Carter showed composure as a freshman, as his match-deciding triumph sealed the championship for the Wolverines ... adding to his impressive resume is an undefeated record during the regular season while posting an excellent 82-7 mark ... raked in the awards as he garnered 4A All-Conference Honors four-straight seasons and was named Mid-Eastern 4A All-Region for four years in a row ...  was a two-time North Carolina High School Athletic Association All-State selection ... registered back-to-back doubles championships in 2016 and 2017 while capturing a regional doubles championship in 2016 ... he was successful off it where he posted a 4.3 GPA in the classroom.

PERSONAL
Born on January 18, 1999, Blake is the son of William and Connie Carter, he has a younger sister, Lauren.  His hobbies include piano, music, basketball, reading and hanging out with his friends.  He is interested in Health Sciences and plans to major in biology, chemistry or pre-professional studies.
