SAN MARCOS, Tex. -- Appalachian State volleyball is seeded sixth for the Sun Belt Tournament. The Mountaineers open play Thursday evening at 8:30 p.m. EST against seventh seed UT Arlington on ESPN+ in Strahan Arena on the campus of Texas State.
SUN BELT TOURNAMENT
- App State is making its fourth appearance in the Sun Belt Tournament and owns a 4-3 record
- Last season, the Mountaineers were seeded second in the tournament and advanced to the Sun Belt Tournament championship match, falling to Texas State
- The Mountaineers have faced UT Arlington on previous time in the Sun Belt Tournament, defeating the Mavericks 3-2 in the First Round in 2017
EARLIER THIS SEASON
- App State at UT Arlington met in Boone earlier this season on Oct. 25, with the Mavericks prevailing 3-0
- UTA holds a slim 5-4 edge in the all-time series with the Mountaineers
SCOUTING THE MOUNTAINEERS
- App State concluded the regular season on a four-match winning streak to finish 13-16 overall and 9-7 in Sun Belt play
- A trio of Mountaineers were named All-Sun Belt on Tuesday. Outside hitter Emma Longley and libero Emma Reilly were named First Team All-Sun Belt, while middle blocker Kara Spicer was tabbed as Second Team All-Sun Belt.
- Longley sits second in the conference in total kills (447) and kills per set (3.99 k/s). She has reached double figures in kills in 26 of 29 matches this season, including all 16 Sun Belt contests
- Reilly leads the league with 536 total digs, which also ranks seventh in single season program history
- Spicer is hitting .330 on the season, which sits sixth in the conference
- Sam Bickley was named Sun Belt Setter of the Week after dishing out 94 assists (10.44 a/s), to go along with nine kills (1.00 k/s) and 13 digs (1.44 d/s) in a pair of App State victories this weekend
