BOONE, N.C. – The App State volleyball team (15-12, 6-10 SBC) capped the 2025 regular season with a 3-0 (25-23, 25-17, 25-20) sweep of Troy (9-15, 7-9 SBC) in the Holmes Convocation Center on Saturday.

Maya Winterhoff led the Mountaineers with nine kills on a clip of .500, and made a team high six blocks on the afternoon. Redshirt sophomore
Delanie Grevengoed slammed down seven kills on a mark of .438 and matched junior
Akila Hardie with three blocks apiece. Registering 22 of App State's 29 assists, redshirt senior
Addison Heidemann guided the Mountaineers to a hitting percentage of .253 Heidemann, Grevengoed, and Winterhoff combined for six of App State's seven aces, each serving up a pair. In the digs category, sophomore
MeMe Davis registered a team high 18 and was followed by senior
Ali Morris, who made 13.
App State served up seven aces to Troy's four, as the Trojans were plagued with 17 service errors. The Mountaineers also made 10 blocks to Troy's singular block of the day.
App State and Troy knotted the score on 10 occasions in the first set, but only swapped the lead twice. Midway through the set, a kill from Winterhoff tied things up at 12 all, which Grevengoed followed up with an ace to push App State ahead, 13-12. Maria Contreras set Morris up for a kill to extend App State's lead to 15-12. Kills from Contreras and senior
Keionna Mackey kept App State ahead, 17-14. Troy managed to meet the Mountaineers at 22 all, but back-to-back kills from Morris and Winterhoff brought the Mountaineers to set point. App State secured the set, 25-23, after a Trojan service error.
Mackey opened the second set with a kill for the Black and Gold. The Mountaineers and Trojans fought through a close set, only pushing ahead two before knotting the score, until App State managed to break a 13-all tie with a kill from Morris and a block from the duo of Winterhoff and Heidemann. App State extended its lead to 17-14 with a kill from sophomore
Maddie Smith and an ace from Winterhoff. Building off a pair of Trojan errors, a Heidemann ace, a Grevengoed kill, and a block from the duo of Grevengoed and Hardie, App State jumped ahead, 22-16. Despite a late Trojan kill, the Mountaineers took the set, 25-17, after a pair of Troy errors and a kill from Grevengoed.
Troy took an early 2-1 lead in the third set, before the Mountaineers pushed ahead, 3-2, with a Trojan error and a kill from Winterhoff for the only lead change of the set. As the Trojans met the Mountaineers at 6-6, App State went on a 6-0 run that featured kills from Winterhoff and Smith, an ace from Winterhoff, and a block from the duo of Contreras and Hardie, to double the Mountaineer's score (12-6). The Mountaineers maintained their lead with a kill from Grevengoed and a block from the duo of Heidemann and Winterhoff. Back-to-back kills from Smith and Hardie, as well as a block from the duo, extended App State's lead to 22-17. Morris and Grevengoed went up for one last block before the Mountaineers took the set, 25-20, and the match, 3-0.
