• Appalachian State's athletic success has been highlighted by the extraordinary achievements of its football program.

• Since 2005, only Boise State has more wins than Appalachian among NCAA Division I programs.

• Appalachian State became the first NCAA Division I FCS program to ever win three-straight national championships from 2005-07. Appalachian is one of only six programs in NCAA football history, regardless of division, to win three-straight national championships (prior to ASU, the last Division I program to do so was Army - 1944-46).

• Appalachian State is the only school from the state of North Carolina to ever win an NCAA football national championship.

• Appalachian State won six-straight Southern Conference championships from 2005-10, joining Georgia Southern (1997-2002) as the only program's in the SoCon's 79-year football history to win six titles in a row.

• Appalachian has made seven-straight appearances (2005-11) in the NCAA Division I Football Championship, advancing to at least the second round all seven years.

• Appalachian's success is not limited to the gridiron. Over the past six years, Appalachian has earned three postseason National Invitation Tournament berths and appeared in a total of five national postseason tournaments in men's and women's basketball, came within one victory of advancing to an NCAA super regional in 2012 and earned two top-50 Ratings Percentage Index rankings in baseball, had two wrestlers finish in the top four nationally and sent individual athletes to NCAA national competitions in men's and women's cross country, men's and women's indoor and outdoor track and field.

(first time that an FCS team ever defeated a nationally ranked FBS team)

• Men's basketball over Virginia (2006), Vanderbilit (2006), Arkansas (2007), Marshall (2010) and Tulsa (2011)

• Women's basketball over Wake Forest (2010), Memphis (2010) and NC State (2012)

• Baseball over Miami (Fla.) (2011), at LSU (2-of-3) (2012), Oklahoma (2012) and Virginia (2012)
