• Holmes Convocation Center opens as the new home of Appalachian State men's and women's basketball, volleyball and men's and women's indoor track and field. The facility seats 8,325 and is sold out for its inaugural game when Appalachian men's basketball hosts North Carolina. Facility includes spacious locker rooms, team meeting area and coaches' offices for Appalachian men's and women's basketball and volleyball and Mondo track surface for indoor track meets.

• Appalachian State becomes one of the nation's first college programs to install a FieldTurf playing surface at Kidd Brewer Stadium, home to Mountaineer football, field hockey and outdoor track and field. |
| 2005 |

• ASU Varsity Tennis Courts - a six-court facility located conveniently adjacent to Kidd Brewer Stadium - opens to give Appalachian State men's and women's tennis programs their first-ever dedicated home.

• Don Kennedy Trails, designed specifically for the training and competition needs of Appalachian State cross country, open at State Farm Fields on ASU's campus. |

• Major renovations at Kidd Brewer Stadium begin with the completion of Welcome To The Rock ticket and entry plaza, construction of new concession and restroom facilities in the stadium's south end zone and ornamental columns and fencing replacing chain-link fencing that used to surround the facility's perimeter. Additionally, the stadium's press box is demolished to make room for the construction of 120,000-square-foot Appalachian Athletics Center.
• The Sofield Family Indoor Practice Facility opens, giving all 20 varsity programs a space to practice and train away from inclement weather conditions in the High Country. The Sofield Facility includes an 80x60-yard FieldTurf playing surface, batting cages, soccer and field hockey goals, a fully functional athletic training room and two offices.
• Beaver Field at Jim and Bettie Smith Stadium opens as the new home of Appalachian baseball. Facility features 1,000 permanent seats, FieldTurf playing surface that has greatly increased Appalachian's ability to host early-season games, indoor hitting and pitching facility, spacious clubhouse with locker rooms for players and coaches, coaches offices, players lounge and athletic training room, press box, full concessions and souvenir area and dedicated umpires locker room.
• Sywassink-Lloyd Family Stadium opens as Appalachian State softball's first on-campus home. The facility features seating for 1,000, a natural grass playing surface, press box, coaches offices and locker room and spacious players lounge. |

• Kidd Brewer Stadium renovations continue with addition of 4,400-seat upper deck on the stadium's east side that ups stadium capacity to 20,150. Additional renovations included construction of new concessions and restroom facilities on stadium's east side and enlarging stadium's video scoreboard by nearly twice its former size with a new theater-style widescreen display.
• Appalachian State men's and women's soccer moves into their new home, ASU Soccer Stadium at the Ted Mackorrell Soccer Complex. The centerpiece of northwest North Carolina's premier soccer complex, ASU Soccer Stadium includes seating for 1,000 and a fully functional press box.
• Holmes Center adds LED display boards and courtside seating for 32.
• Varsity Gym undergoes a major renovation to convert it to a state-of-the-art practice facility for Appalachian men's and women's basketball, volleyball, men's and women's track and field and competition venue for Appalachian wrestling. Renovation includes installation of new hardwood floor that features four full-size basketball courts and five volleyball courts, new Mondo surface, high jump and pole vault pits and throwing cages for track-and-field training, construction of wrestling offices and practice room, seating for 1,000 and scoreboard for wrestling meets, fully functional athletic training room and updated laundry facility. |

• The crown jewel of Appalachian's athletics facilities enhancement - the Appalachian Athletics Center - opens adjacent to Kidd Brewer Stadium. The 120,000-square-foot facility includes a 9,000-square-foot football locker room, 9,000-square-foot athletic training room and hydrotherapy center, 9,000-square foot strength and conditioning room, spacious meeting rooms and players lounge, football coaches' office suite, administrative offices, club level with 600 premium seats, 19 luxury suites and state-of-the-art press box. Addition of club seats and suites up stadium capacity to 21,650. |

• Spacious locker room is constructed for Appalachian State men's and women's soccer teams at ASU Soccer Stadium.
• ASU Golf Indoor Performance Lab undergoes major renovation at Varsity Gym, expanding by over 30 percent to give Mountainee men's and women's golf over 2,000-square feet of dedicated indoor space for short-game and full-swing practice. Facility features three separate areas - a short game room for working on putting stroke mechanics, a four-bay full swing room and an instruction lab with the latest in video and analytic technology. |

• Kidd Brewer Stadium expands once again with 1,500 temporary seats in the north end zone that are just feet away from the end zone bringing ASU students closer to the action than ever before and upping stadium capacity to 23,150.
• A new FieldTurf playing surface (Revolution) is installed at Kidd Brewer Stadium. |

• Sywassink-Lloyd Family Stadium undergoes a major renovation that overhauls playing surface and drainage system, brings dugouts closer to home plate and spectator seating closer to the playing field and includes construction of first-ever dedicated locker room for Appalachian State softball. |
