Appalachian State's campus is easily accessible by air and ground.
Air: Ground:
  • Hickory and Wilkesboro Regional Airports service charter flights and are both less than an hour's drive from Appalachian State's campus.

  • Charlotte-Douglas International, Piedmont Triad International and Tri-Cities Regional airports combine to handle nearly 1,000 commercial flights per day and are all located less than two hours' drive from Appalachian State's campus.
  • Three major highways intersect in Boone and serve Appalachian State University. Over the past decade, the two primary routes from Charlotte and Raleigh were completed with over $150 million in road improvements. These multi-lane highways drastically reduced travel times to all major population centers.
