AWAY FROM HOME
• Appalachian State fans are notorious for traveling en masse across the region to support the Mountaineers.

• With less than a week turnaround following the national semifinals, Appalachian sold out its allotment of tickets for the 2005, 2006 and 2007 NCAA Division I Football national championships games. Thanks to the 15,000-plus Mountaineer fans in attendance at each championship game, the 2005-07 crowds were by far the largest in the FCS title game's 13-year stint in Chattanooga, Tenn.

• Appalachian State easily sold out its allotment of 4,500 tickets for its 2009 season opener at East Carolina and thousands more Mountaineer fans were estimated to be in attendance among the sellout crowd of 43,279, which was the ninth-largest crowd in ECU history at the time. The crowd was the larger than any contingent that a Conference USA opponent have ever brought to ECU's Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium.
