BOONE, N.C. — App State Field Hockey players Claire Grenis, Sarah Perkins and Calista Schwartz were named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District team, the association announced Tuesday.
To qualify for the award, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher and play in 90 percent of their team's games or start in 66 percent of them.
Grenis, in her final season as a Mountaineer and second consecutive year as a team captain, played a pivotal role in goal for App State. She recorded four shutouts, finishing fourth in goals-against average and tallying 79 saves on the season. The Manlius, N.Y., native ended her career with a 3.9 GPA, graduating with a master's degree in geography.
Perkins, also in her final season and second straight year as a team captain, was one of seven players with more than 1,000 minutes played, seeing action in all but 15 minutes of the 2025 season. Scoring one goal and assisting three more from her defender position, she helped the Mountaineers achieve their first postseason win under head coach Emily Dinsmore against Ohio in the 2025 MAC tournament. Finishing with a 3.89 GPA, the Cary, N.C., native graduated with a degree in biology.
Starting in 18 of 20 games, Schwartz, a Vancouver, British Columbia, native, tallied three assists on the season, including two in a three-game stretch. Adding to her resume, she played internationally alongside newcomer Riley Novak in the FIH Junior World Cup, gaining priceless experience against some of the best field hockey players from around the world. She finished her junior season with a 3.85 GPA, earning dean's and chancellor's list honors during the 2025-26 academic year.
