MANAHAWKIN, N.J. – App State Field Hockey standouts
Lise Boekaar and
Sophia Baxter were both named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) South Region Team on Wednesday. Boekaar earned first-team honors, while Baxter secured a spot on the second team.
The honors follow an impressive 2025 season from both players, who ended the year as the team's leading goal scorers. Both played in every game and helped propel the Mountaineers to their first national ranking in program history after defeating then-No. 18 James Madison on Sept. 28. Baxter and Boekaar both scored in the contest, with Boekaar netting the game-winning goal in overtime to complete the upset.
Baxter left a significant impact this season, leading the Mountaineers with 14 goals. She also set a program record by earning the MAC Defensive Player of the Week award four times. This All-Region recognition follows her First-Team All-MAC recognition for her play during the regular season.
Boekaar cemented her place in the record book this year. She set the program record for the most career assists with 34 on Oct. 10, and also set the single-season record with 19 assists in her final year.
The All-Region honor adds to a multitude of accolades for the senior. She was also named First-Team All-MAC, earned a spot on the All-Tournament Team and was selected to the NFHCA Senior Team, making her the first Mountaineer to earn a spot on the Senior Team since 2021. She was also named the MAC Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 2 for her play during the opening weekend of the season, when she was responsible for each of the first 10 goals of the season.
