NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — Aidan Browning led App State Men's Golf at the Surf Club Invitational, shooting a 6-under 65 in the final round and tying for 14th place with a 5-under total of 208.
As hosts of the event, the Mountaineers placed ninth in the 18-team field with a 4-under total (291-279-278—848). Georgia State won by three strokes with a 37-under total, and North Carolina A&T's Drew Walker was the medalist at 13 under.
Several Mountaineers closed the event in strong fashion, as
Max Cranford had a final-round 66 and
James Gradisek posted his second 69 of the 54-hole event.
Rob Bergevin had the second-best individual finish by a Mountaineer, placing 23rd at 3 under (71-67-72—210). Cranford tied for 39th at even par (74-73-66—213), as did
Herman Huus (70-69-74—213). Gradisek finished 44th at 1 over after breaking 70 for the first two times in his career at 69-76-69—214.
Alex Martin fired a 67 in the second round before tying for 49th at 2 over (74-67-74—215).
