MADISON, Miss. — Playing in the Sun Belt Championship tournament for the fourth time, App State Men's Golf senior
Herman Huus tied for 26th place to lead the Mountaineers during the 54-hole stroke-play portion of the event at Annandale Golf Club.
App State finished its first season under the direction of head coach
John Michael Cole by placing 11th out of 14 teams with a 26-over total of 294-297-299—890. The Mountaineers were tied for sixth place after 18 holes Monday and tied for ninth after 36 holes Tuesday, with inclement weather Wednesday affecting third-round scores before forcing stroke play to conclude Thursday morning.
Huus ended the first round in a tie for 10th place and was in a tie for 12th entering the final round before completing 54 holes at 4 over (71-72-77—220).
Ben Read finished with a 9-over total (72-76-77—225), while
Cole Bergheim and
Max Cranford posted App State's best scores in the final round. Cranford finished at 11 over (75-78-74—227), and Bergheim ended up at 12 over (76-79-73—228).
Alex Martin bounced back from a difficult opening round to post an under-par score Tuesday, and he finished at 18 over (88-71-75—234).
Coastal Carolina, Arkansas State, Southern Miss and South Alabama advanced to the match play semifinals. Coastal's Max Bengtsson was the individual medalist at 11 under (70-66-69—205).
App State's 2025-26 season was presented by Hound Ears Club.
