MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — Brody Tidwell led the way for App State Men's Golf in its fall debut, tying for 14th place with a 4-under total of 73-68-71—212 at the Myrtle Beach Golf Trips Intercollegiate.
The Mountaineers placed 15th as a team with an 8-over total of 289-291-292—872.
Tidwell had five birdies and one bogey in his 4-under second round, and he added four more birdies in a 1-under final round.
Matthew McDougall tied for 30th place at even par through 54 holes (69-74-73—216), while
Charlie Horne closed with an under-par round to tie for 38th with a 2-over total of 73-74-71—218.
After three straight pars on holes 10-12 to open play Sunday, McDougall eagled his fourth hole of the event, starting a five-hole stretch that he played at 5 under to move atop the leaderboard. He also shot a 31 (with five birdies) on his opening nine holes Monday to reach 8 under for the event before giving some shots back later in the round.
Competing as an individual,
Rob Bergevin tied for 80th at 11 over (74-78-75—227).
Cole Bergheim (74-75-79—228) and
James Marriott (75-76-77—228) tied for 81st place.
Host Coastal Carolina won the tournament, and three individuals led the way with 12-under totals.
App State is back in action Sept. 27-29 at the Badger Invitational hosted by Wisconsin at University Ridge.
