TOWSON, Md. - The App State field hockey team will kick off the 2025 season against the Towson Tigers on Friday. This marks the fourth consecutive year the Mountaineers have opened their season against the Tigers.

Scouting the Mountaineers
Coming off back-to-back regular-season MAC championships, the Mountaineers are looking to carry that momentum into the 2025 season when they open play on Friday.
The 2025 Mountaineer squad features three players who earned All-MAC selections in 2024. Midfielder
Lise Boekaar earned All-MAC first-team honors and was also named to the NFHCA South Region First Team.
Henriette Stegen was named to the All-MAC second team, while
Frederique Grimbergen earned a spot on the All-MAC freshman team.
Six Mountaineers landed on the 2025 NFHCA Division I Watch List that was announced on Wednesday. App State's
Sophia Baxter, Boekaar, Grimbergen and Stegen were among the honorees from the returning squad, while newcomers
Kate Richardson and
Calista Schwartz also received the honor. Baxter recently represented the Mountaineers at the Senior Nexus Championship this past summer.

Claire Grenis, defender
Sarah Perkins and forward
Bridget Donovan will serve as captains for the 2025 squad.
Scouting the Tigers
Towson enters the 2025 season after tallying a 7-11 record in 2024. The Tigers are led by head coach Katie Gerzabek Salem, who is in her third season at the helm.
Towson returns 17 players from last year's roster and has added eight newcomers for 2025.
Series History
App State defeated Towson 3-0 in last year's season opener in the High Country. The Mountaineers are on a seven-game winning streak in the all-time series against the Tigers and hold a 7-5 overall record.
Twelve returning players saw playing time against the Tigers in 2024.
Samantha Connors found the back of the cage in last year's matchup, with Donovan and Stegen both logging assists.
