HARRISONBURG, Va. — The App State field hockey team fell 4-1 to No. 2-seeded UMass in the semifinals of the 2025 MAC Field Hockey Championship on Thursday.
Kate Richardson scored the lone goal for the Mountaineers, her eighth of her senior season.

How It Happened
1st: It was a scoreless period for both teams with the Mountaineers (14-6, 7-2 MAC) putting a shot up, along with
Claire Grenis tallying a save.
2nd: UMass (16-3, 8-1 MAC) got on the board first, slotting the ball past to give the Minutewomen the lead.
3rd: The four total remaining goals of the game were scored all in the third, with UMass netting three goals in the period. One goal came from a penalty stroke, and after a video review, the call was upheld. Richardson scored the lone goal of the period to bring it back, but the Minutewomen pulled away in the period.
Lise Boekaar had a goal scored, but after a disputed call, the goal was called back after official review.
4th: The Mountaineers generated a corner but were unable to find the back of the cage, falling to UMass 4-1 to close out the season.
