Men's Golf's Seward Wins SCGA Four Ball Title

CLINTON, S.C. — Jack Seward from App State Men's Golf teamed with fellow Trinity Collegiate School alum Jay Smith to win the 58th annual South Carolina Golf Association Four Ball Championship event.

Seeded 12th, Seward and Smith posted a 2-and-1 victory in the final match Sunday at Musgrove Mill Golf Club, clinching the title with a birdie on the 17th hole.

They advanced to the final with a 1-up victory against App State Men's Golf alum Ryan Marter and his brother, Will. The Marter brothers had a 3-up lead through 10 holes before Seward and Smith claimed four of the next seven holes.

Seward and Smith reached the semifinal round with three victories in Region 4 play, earning a 2-and-1 victory in the round of 32, a win in 21 holes in the round of 16 and a 2-and-1 victory in the quarterfinal round.

A native of Florence, S.C., Seward recently completed his sophomore season with the Mountaineers. The Four Ball event began on Wednesday, Seward's birthday.
