Ona Lukes tied for 32nd place to lead App State Women's Golf during the 2025 Sun Belt Championship tournament held at The Lakewood Club.
Lukes was tied for third place following a 1-under 71 in Round 1 on Monday, and her 1-over 73 to close stroke play tied for the 11th-best round Wednesday. Lukes played her final 14 holes Monday at 4 under and her final 11 holes Wednesday at 3 under, as nine of her 11 birdies in the tournament occurred during those two rounds.
Including a second-round 83, Lukes ended stroke play with an 11-over total of 227.
Momoka Ando from eventual team champion Southern Miss was the medalist with a 70-68-69—207 total of 9 under, six shots ahead of second place. Georgia Southern (6 over), Coastal Carolina (15 over), Southern Miss (16 over) and ULM (21 over) advanced to Thursday's match play.
As a team, App State finished with a 70-over total (307-317-310—934).
Mary-Sears Brown broke 80 in both of her rounds, as she shot a 5-over 77 in her lineup debut Tuesday and closed with a 78.
Jacquelyn Taylor opened with a 76, closed with a 77 and tied for 47th with a 19-over total of 235.
Layla Meric and
Salem Lee both had second-round 79s following first-round 80s, with Meric finishing stroke play at 25 over and Lee ending stroke play at 26 over.
Makena Dubois competed Monday and had an 84.
The 2024-25 season was presented by Hungry Howie's and Penn Station.
