CHAPEL HILL — After moving inside the top 10 by reaching a red number on the Chapel Hill Regional leaderboard, App State Women's Golf freshman
Zoe Duval completed her first NCAA postseason round in a tie for 31st place with a 3-over 73.
Duval began the opening round with a double bogey on the 10th hole, then climbed into a tie for sixth place by playing the next 11 holes at 3 under, with four birdies in that stretch. Still at 2 over through seven holes, she had birdies on three of the next five holes, all par-3 tests.
She started that run with a 2-foot birdie after nearly acing the 137-yard 17th hole, made the turn with a par at No. 18, then drilled a birdie putt after hitting another good tee shot on the 160-yard first hole. She missed an opportunity for birdie at No. 2 and came back with another birdie on the 152-yard third hole.
A double bogey and bogey on consecutive holes dropped Duval to 2 over with four holes to play, and she made a difficult par putt on her 17th hole before settling for a bogey on her final hole.
From each regional site, the top five teams and the low individual not on an advancing top-five team will advance to compete in the NCAA Championships to be played May 22-27 at the Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, Calif.
North Carolina, Texas, Virginia, Oklahoma State and Mississippi State hold down the top five team spots after 18 of 54 holes, with play continuing Tuesday and concluding Wednesday. The top contender for an individual berth is Princeton's Thanana Kotchasanmanee, who shot a 4-under 66.
App State's 2025-26 season is presented by Hound Ears Club.
