RALEIGH, N.C. — Aidan Browning tied for 20th place to lead eighth-place App State Men's Golf in a 13-team field at the Stitch Intercollegiate hosted by NC State on Friday and Saturday.
Browning finished with a 3-over total (69-73-74—216) after recording three birdies in a 2-under opening round and holding the lead with a 4-under total through 30 of 54 holes on the par-71 layout. The Mountaineers, with an 18-over total (290-292-288—870), were only three shots out of fifth place and five shots behind fourth-place East Carolina by the end of Saturday's play.
Ben Read (73-72-73—218) and
Herman Huus (73-75-70—218) tied for 26th place with 5-over totals at Lonnie Poole, as Read led App State in the second round and Huus went a team-best 1 under in the final round.
Finishing with a 1-over round,
Alex Martin tied for 38th at 8 over (75-74-72—221).
Jack Seward closed with consecutive 73s to finish at 13-over 226, while
Rob Bergevin competed as an individual. He opened with a 75 and closed with a 74 to finish with a 20-over total of 233.
Lipscomb won the team title with a 1-over total, three shots ahead of UNCG. NC State's Michael Vick was the medalist at 5 under, one shot better than runner-up Alejandro Rodriguez from Lipscomb.
