MORGANTON, N.C. — Putting together its most complete effort of the year, App State Women's Golf placed fifth in the team standings and had five top-25 individuals as the host school of the Mimosa Hills Intercollegiate that concluded Tuesday.
The Mountaineers' 77-over total during the 54-hole event left them just one stroke behind fourth-place North Carolina A&T and two shots behind third-place Gardner-Webb. Wofford won the team title by four strokes over Tennessee Tech thanks to a 61-over total, highlighted by a five-shot individual victory from Bella Kent, who had a 3-over total (73-74-72—219).
App State's final-round team score of 314 was just one shot off the low team round of the day.
Ona Lukes' final-round 75 enabled her to tie for eighth place with a 14-over total (78-77-75—230).
Makena Dubois (playing as an individual) and
Salem Lee both tied for 16th place at 21 over, with Dubois entering the final round in ninth place thanks to a second-round 75 and Lee shooting a 79 in each round.
Layla Meric and
Jacquelyn Taylor both opened the event with 77s, while
Mary-Sears Brown had a 77 in the second round, which included heavy rains. Meric placed 23rd, and Taylor tied for 24th.
The 2024-25 season is presented by Hound Ears Club. The Mountaineers close the regular season at the Tennessee Spring Challenge in Knoxville on April 7 and begin play at the Sun Belt Championship tournament in Alabama on April 14.
