WALLACE, N.C. — Led by a tie for sixth place individually from senior
Layla Meric, matching the best finish of her career, App State Women's Golf placed sixth at the River Landing Classic hosted by UNCW.
When the 54-hole event concluded Tuesday north of Wilmington, Meric had posted a 4-over total of 73-71-76—220. She had three birdies in her 1-under 71 during Monday afternoon's second round and matched the sixth-place showing she had at the Elon Invitational during the 2022 fall schedule.
Ona Lukes tied for 23rd overall at 17 over (79-76-78—233), while
Jacquelyn Taylor tied for 27th at 20 over (79-76-81—236).
Salem Lee and
Mary-Sears Brown both closed with 4-over 76s, matching Meric for App State's low round of Tuesday, and
Makena Dubois shot a final-round 79.
UNCW finished with a 14-over total to win the team title by three strokes, and Princeton's Oliva Duan finished at 7 under to win the individual title by three shots.
The 2024-25 season is presented by Hound Ears Club.
