Wrestling Makes Dual Debut in Boone Sunday vs. No. 10 NC State

BOONE, N.C. — After wrestling its first five duals away from home, App State hosts a dual for the first time this season on Sunday, when No. 10 NC State (2-2) meets the Mountaineers (2-3) in Varsity Gym.

The dual begins at 3 p.m., with doors opening at 2 p.m.

For fans attending Sunday, this is a Varsity Plus match, with tickets in advance of match day available online at $25 for general admission bleachers or $30 for a general admission seat within the Premium Black section. All tickets purchased on match day carry an additional $5 cost, so purchase tickets in advance.

Home duals are streamed live on FloWrestling, which has a subscription model.

The Rivers Street Deck across from Varsity Gym is the most popular parking option for wrestling events, with fans entering the corner of the gym adjacent to the loading dock area off Rivers Street.

Fans should be aware that Varsity Gym has a clear bag policy for visitors. According to App State's clear bag policies:
  • Approved bags include clear plastic bags that do not exceed 12" x 6" x 12" and small clutch purses no larger than 4.5" x 6.5".
  • Bags that are not approved include diaper bags, backpacks, binocular cases, camera cases, tinted or printed pattern plastic bags, fanny packs, oversized tote bags & mesh bags, and purses exceeding 4.5" x 6.5".
App State opened its dual schedule by splitting against Navy (loss) and Hofstra (comeback win) in Pennsylvania before going 1-2 at the Mountaineer Quad in West Virginia, where App State took four of 10 matches against 18th-ranked WVU. App State lost to Princeton and beat Division II Glenville State.

The four victories against WVU included wins over ranked opponents from Aldo Hernandez (141) and 31st-ranked Kaden Keiser (149), with Keiser picking up his third ranked victory of the season.

App State's Stephan Monchery (heavyweight), Tomas Brooker (184 pounds) and Cooper  Foster (125) joined Keiser in securing titles last weekend at the Mountaineer Open in Boone. It was the 33rd-ranked Brooker's first title since the 2024 SoCon tournament, as he suffered a season-ending knee injury at NC State last November in the opening dual of the 2024-25 season.

NC State has ranked wrestlers at eight of 10 weights, with top-11 wrestlers at six spots. The Wolfpack's record includes a 1-2 mark from the National Duals in Tulsa, Okla., where it won 27-8 against No. 15 Northern Iowa before falling 23-11 to No. 4 Oklahoma State and 25-9 to No. 8 Virginia Tech.

NC State has three returning All-Americans from last season in Vincent Robinson (national champion at 125), Isaac Trumble (fourth place at heavyweight) and Matty Singleton (seventh place at 174), while Ryan Jack (141) was an All-American after finishing seventh in 2024.

The 2025-26 season is presented by Hungry Howie's and Penn Station.
