SPARTANBURG, S.C. — App State Women's Golf freshman
Zoe Duval finished the 2025 fall season in style, becoming the co-champion of the Terrier Intercollegiate by posting a 1-over total of 74-73-70—217 as the 54-hole event concluded Tuesday at the Country Club of Spartanburg.
It was the program's first individual victory in a 54-hole tournament since 2018, when Melany Chong won the Low Country Intercollegiate in the same city.
With top-10 finishes under difficult conditions from Duval and
Ona Lukes (seventh place with an 8-over 224), the Mountaineers tied for third place in the 15-team field. Their even-par 288 in the final round resulted from counting scores by Duval (70),
Maria Pinedo (72), Lukes (73) and
Salem Lee (73) on the par-72 layout. It was the third team round with a score of par or better in program history.
App State's 35-over total over 54 holes (311-300-288—899) left the team two shots behind host Wofford and eight shots behind team champion ETSU.
Facing a two-shot deficit as she began her final round on the fourth hole, Duval made a 6-foot birdie putt on her 17th hole and a 9-foot par putt on her 18th hole to end up tied with ETSU's Sophia Gambini, who bogeyed her final two holes. Gambini had moved ahead by three shots at 1 under thanks to birdies on Nos. 15 and 16, but the back-to-back bogeys, coupled with Duval's birdie on her 17th hole, left them both at 1 over.
In 12 rounds over four fall tournaments, Duval had nine rounds of 73 or better and recorded a pair of top-two finishes. She opened Tuesday's final round with back-to-back birdies and totaled 11 birdies with 12 bogeys (but nothing worse) over 54 holes.
Lukes finished at 77-74-73—224, while Pinedo closed in strong fashion to tie for 25th with a total of 82-79-72—233.
Salem Lee finished at 19 over (78-84-73—235) to tie for 30th, and
Alisa Pressley tied for 33rd at 20 over (82-74-80—236).
