ASHEBORO, N.C. — Led by a second straight top-10 performance from
Ona Lukes, the 18-hole co-leader thanks to a 2-under 70, App State Women's Golf placed ninth at the Tot Hill Farm Invitational that concluded Tuesday.
Lukes tied for 10th at 6 over (70-74-78—222) in the 54-hole event after entering the final round in fifth place with an even-par total through 36 holes. Her first-round 70 followed a final-round 70 that had allowed her to tie for third place at the Elon Invitational in App State's last tournament a week earlier.
The bogey-free round Monday produced a 2-under total that has been topped only three times in program history — by a trio of 3-under rounds more than a decade ago.
The other highlight for the Mountaineers was an even-par 72 in the second round from fellow sophomore
Makena Dubois.
Layla Meric tied for 39th with App State's second-best 54-hole total of 21 over, highlighted by a first-round 74, and
Mary-Sears Brown placed 47th.
Jacquelyn Taylor tied for the best final round on the team with a 78 and tied for 52nd overall.
The Mountaineers posted a 67-over total (307-308-316—931) as a team. Charleston won the team race with an 867 total, 10 shots ahead of East Carolina, and Charleston's Emma Schimpf was the medalist at 1 under (77-68-70—215).
