DURHAM, N.C. – The App State men's and women's track and field team capped competition at the Duke Invitational on Saturday after totaling an even 60 top-20 finishes on the weekend.
"I'm very excited about how everyone stepped up today against very good competition," said director of track & field/cross country
Damion McLean. "That is the type of competitiveness we need each and every weekend if we want to be heard in the Sun Belt."
Graduate student
Ashlee Osaji, who is the App State women's outdoor long jump record holder, clinched first in the women's long jump with a leap of 6.31m (20' 8.5").
The women's 4x100-meter relay quartet of freshmen
Nicole Wells and
Sierra Smith, senior
Taylor Smith, and freshman
Jayla Adams clocked a time of 45.08 to place second.
Taylor Smith went on to take fourth in the women's 100 meters with a personal best of 11.56. She remains fifth in the App State all-time list. Freshman
Kendall Johnson also posted a personal best in the women's 100 meters with a time of 11.73 to take sixth. She moves to ninth in the program all-time list.
The men's 4x400-meter relay team of senior

Parker Kinney clocked a season-best time of 3:13.57 to finish fourth. The men's 4x100-meter squad of freshman Armonté Ferguson, sophomores
Kenneth Crawford II and
Harrison Robinson, and Krehnbrink also posted a fourth-place finish with a season best time of 40.85. Robinson went on to round out the top-five in the men's 110-meter hurdles with a time of 13.99, which is 00.06 from his personal best of 13.93. His personal best was set at the Weems Baskin Relays and is third in the App State all-time list. Kinney rounded out the top-five in the men's 400 meters with a personal best time of 47.30. His time moves him to fifth in the App State all-time list. Krehnbrink placed eighth in the event with a season best of 47.59, which is 00.09 off his personal best of 47.50.
Freshman
Matthew Gray rounded out the top-five with a personal best clearance of 5.25m (17' 2.75") in the men's pole vault Group A final. His clearance moves him to second in the program all-time list. Senior
Patrick Freeman placed seventh with a personal best of his own, clearing 5.05m (16' 6.75"), which moves him to sixth in the program all-time list.
In the men's 400-meter hurdles, senior
Jabari Dalton stopped the clock at 53.55 to place sixth overall. Hunt rounded out the top-15 in the event with a time of 55.80. Freshman
Caleb Lopez and senior
Nathan Karl posted seventh-place finishes in the men's triple jump and men's shot put, respectively. Lopez recorded a personal best leap of 13.80m (45' 3.5") and Karl recorded a season best toss of 16.46m (54' 0").
In the men's 100 meters, Ferguson finished ninth with a time of 10.56, while Crawford took 13th with a season best of 10.67. Graduate student
Alexia Moehling stopped the clock at 14.01 to finish 11th in the women's 100-meter hurdles.
Freshman
Miller Brannen clocked a personal best of 1:53.88 to place 17th in the men's 800 meters. In the men's javelin, sophomore
Jake Stanley recorded a toss of 40.18m (131' 10") to place 19th. Junior
Daiyanna Cooper rounded out the top-20 in the women's shot put with a toss of 12.50m (41' 0.25").
Duke Invitational Rewind
On Friday, graduate student
Celia Agee took first with a personal best clearance of 3.70m (12' 1.5") in the women's pole vault Group B final. Fellow graduate student
Noelle Meeker took third (3.70m (12' 1.5"), PR) and sophomore
Caroline Fowlkes took fourth (3.55m (11' 7.75"), PR). In the men's pole vault Group B final, senior
Taylor Fox finished second with a clearance of 4.65m (15' 3").
Taylor Smith stopped the clock at 23.55 for a season best and second-place finish in the women's 200 meters, which moved her to fourth in the App State all-time list.
Sierra Smith placed seventh (23.82) and Adams placed 12th (24.08, PR).
The Mountaineers saw sixth-place finishes from senior
Dwayne Lillie (men's 1,500 meters, 3:52.28, PR), sophomore
Ethan Lipham (men's 3,000-meter steeplechase, 9:11.19), and freshman
Jared Hiatt (men's long jump, 6.96m (22' 10"), PR). Hiatt also rounded out the top-15 in the men's high jump with a clearance of 1.90m (6' 2.75").
Wainscott and senior
Jonah Morris each registered seventh-place finishes. Wainscott placed seventh in both the men's discus (50.04m (164' 2")) and men's hammer throw (58.11m (190' 7"). Morris clocked a personal best of 9:12.38 in the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase.
In the men's 200 meters, freshman Armonté Ferguson stopped the clock at 21.45 for a personal best and eighth-place finish. In the women's 1,500 meters, senior
Elizabeth Fuller rounded out the top-10 with a personal-best of 4:41.08. Cooper recorded a toss of 53.67m (176' 9") to place 11th in the women's hammer throw. Senior
Jasmine Donohue clocked a time of 17:35.52 to place 11th in the invitational section of the women's 5,000 meters and stopped the clock at 4:33.88 to place 19th in the invitational section of the women's 1,500 meters.
The Mountaineers saw 12th-place finishes from senior
Niejel Wilkins (men's long jump, 6.80m (22' 3.75")), Krehnbrink (men's 200 meters, 21.61), Karl (men's discus, 47.38m (155' 5")), graduate student
Jonah Bird (men's invitational 5,000 meters, 14:33.88, PR), and junior
Lana Farris (women's 5,000 meters, 18:08.18).
In the invitational section of the women's 800 meters, sophomore
Addison Ollendick-Smith recorded a personal best of 2:08.97 to place 13th, which moved her to third in the App State all-time list. Graduate student
Oliver Wilson-Cook clocked a season best of 14:35.97 to place 14th in the invitational section of the men's 5,000 meters and senior
Megan Plummer rounded out the top-15 in the women's discus with a personal best toss of 40.74m (133' 8).
