BOONE, N.C. – App State senior Parker Kinney captured Sun Belt Men's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week honors Thursday after a scintillating performance in the men's 400 meters at the Raleigh Relays.
In his first attempt at the 400 this outdoor season, the Leicester, N.C., native ran an impressive time of 46.64 to earn his first career weekly award from the conference. The personal-best time moved him into third in App State history and was the fastest by a Mountaineer since 1983. He finished seventh of 127 runners in the event.
Kinney's 46.64 ranks him top 30 in the NCAA, 17th in the East Region, and leads the Sun Belt by nearly a full second.
App State returns to action at the Duke Invitational April 9th-11th.
