SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. — Herman Huus closed The Goodwin with a 1-over 71, while App State Men's Golf teammate
Colin Browning ended the prestigious event with a pair of 72s to finish with the program's top 54-hole total at TPC Harding Park.
With Stanford hosting the 31-team tournament at the site of the 2020 PGA Championship, App State placed 31st after traveling west to compete against 18 top-75 teams, including five top-25 teams. The Mountaineers posted a 55-over total (297-303-295—895).
No. 22 Georgia edged No. 73 Utah for the team title, winning with a 1-under total that topped the Utes by one stroke.
Browning had a 10-over total of 220 (76-72-72) to tie for 92nd place, and
Alex Martin had the next-best 54-hole score at 13 over. He followed an opening-round 72 with scores of 77 and 74. Huus had a 2-under 33 on his front nine Saturday to wrap up the event with his 71, which followed rounds of 78 and 79.
App State's other entries were
Sverrir Haraldsson (73-78-78—229) and
Addison Beam (76-76-78—230).
