Six Mountaineers Garner All-MAC Recognition

CLEVELAND – App State Field Hockey earned a total of six postseason awards, tying for the second most in the conference, the MAC announced Tuesday.

Senior Charlotte Bosma and junior Lise Boekaar earned All-MAC First Team honors, while Grace Ball, Florine Koopman and Henriette Stegen earned All-MAC Second Team honors. Frederique Grimbergen earned a spot on the All-MAC Freshman Team for her contributions this year as well.

Charlotte Bosma, Lise Boekaar – All-MAC First Team
Bosma had a great senior campaign, tallying four goals and three assists on the season. Her relentless speed created scoring opportunities for herself and the Mountaineers, as she leads the team with 35 shots on goal by herself. Bosma finished the season with three game-winning goals and was a two-time recipient of MAC Offensive Player of the Week award. Boekaar has had an impressive junior season, leading the Mountaineers with seven assists, along with finding the back of the cage three times. Her stick skills are unmatched, acting as a distributor for App State, finding her teammates and setting them up for success in scoring situations.

Grace Ball, Henriette Stegen and Florine Koopman – All-MAC Second Team
Ball in her fifth year has been one of the anchors for the seven-shutout Mountaineer defense this season, playing every minute of every game excluding the 5-0 win on Nov. 1 against Queens. She has tallied two goals and three assists this season, all while valuing possession and keeping opponents out of scoring position. Stegen has been a force on the offensive end, finding the back of the cage five times while earning two assists. Primarily coming off the bench, her instant offense has been pivotal for the Mountaineers, as she has tallied two game-winning goals over the course of 17 games. Koopman has been all over the field this season, also scoring five goals and three assists. Her most recent goal came in the form of a game-winner against James Madison to clench a share of the regular season title for the second consecutive year. Koopman has earned both offensive and defensive player of the week honors, showing her tenacity in playing both sides of the ball.

Frederique Grimbergen – All-MAC Freshman Team
Grimbergen has been an instant impact for the Mountaineers, starting in nine games this season. Her composure in midfield has been beneficial for App State, as she tallied two goals and one assist on the season. Her first goal came in a Sept. 30 victory against Bellarmine, finding the back of the cage for the first time of her collegiate career. Her second goal came in game-winning fashion, scoring the only goal in the 1-0 victory on Oct. 4 against Kent State late in the contest.
