GREENVILLE, N.C. — Led by top-25 individual finishes from
Ben Read and
Alex Martin, who posted under-par totals in the 36-hole event, App State Men's Golf placed 12th in the 15-team Ironwood Collegiate Classic hosted by East Carolina.
Read, an App State newcomer, followed an opening-round 71 by shooting a 4-under 68 to give him a 5-under total of 139 and a tie for 14th place. Martin was tied for seventh place after an opening-round 69, and a final-round 72 gave him a 3-under total that put him in a tie for 22nd place.
Charlie O'Shea finished at 5 over (75-74—149) in the abbreviated event, which was originally scheduled for 54 holes, while
Herman Huus had a 7-over total (73-78—151).
Aidan Browning had rounds of 78 and 76.
Playing as individuals,
Jack Seward (75-73—148) and
James Gradisek (71-77—148) both finished at 4 over.
ECU won the team title at 28 under, two shots ahead of Long Island U., and FAU's Biagio Gagliardi was the individual medalist at 13 under.
