Wilson-Cook, Donohue Lead Mountaineers at NCAA Southeast Regional

SPARTANBURG, S.C. App State seniors Oliver Wilson-Cook and Jasmine Donohue led the charge for the Mountaineers in the men's 10K and women's 6K, respectively, at the NCAA Southeast Regional in Spartanburg, S.C. on Friday.
 
Wilson-Cook was the first Mountaineer to cross the finish line in the men's 10K, placing 43rd overall with a personal best of 30:11.6. Fellow senior Calbert Guest rounded out the top-50 with personal best of 30:18.6, while senior Dwayne Lillie clocked a personal best of 30:23.7 to place 56th. Graduate student Jonah Bird and sophomore Ethan Lipham finished 98th (31:16.4, PR) and 99th (31:18.1, PR), respectively. The Mountaineers recorded their best team finish since 2014, placing 10th overall in the team standings. App State also scored its lowest team score in 15 years with 332 points.
 
"I'm really proud of the guys for competing with heart today," said men's distance coach Brad Herbster. "Oliver Wilson-Cook moved up and fought through some aches and pains, Calbert Guest closed well and Dwayne Lillie fought and moved up well. Jonah Bird and Ethan Lipham round out our top-five, diminishing the top-100 and helped up stay 11th."
 
Senior Jasmine Donohue finished 92nd out of 243 runners in the women's 6K race with a personal best time of 21:37.1. Her previous personal best of 22:27.9 was set at the 2021 NCAA Southeast Regional.

"All season Jasmine Donohue has done a great job of running consistently strong and performing when it counts," said women's distance coach Annie Richards. "She ran a significant PR today and she is leading the team in many ways: her attitude, work ethic , and the heart she puts in her races." 
 
Furman's Dylan Schubert placed first in the men's 10K with a time of 28:51.2. North Carolina and Eastern Kentucky placed first and second, respectively in the team standings to advance to the NCAA Championships in Charlottesville, Va.
 
NC State's Katelyn Tuohy clinched the women's 6K crown with a time of 19:29.8, leading NC State to a first-place team finish and automatic qualification to the NCAA Championships. Furman placed second in the team standings to also advance to the championship meet.
