BOONE, N.C. - The App State volleyball team heads to Huntington, W.Va. to take on Marshall on Friday and Saturday. Friday's match is set for 6 p.m., while Saturday's match is scheduled for 2 p.m. Both matches will be available to stream on ESPN+.
Last Time Out
App State tallied a pair of home victories against ULM on Oct. 13 and 14. The Mountaineers have won their past three matches, all of which have been held at Holmes Convocation Center.
The Black and Gold swept ULM in three sets on Friday, marking its second consecutive sweep after sweeping Georgia State on Oct. 7. Senior
Sophie Cain recorded her 20th career double-double, leading the team with 18 assists and 10 digs. She also had a team-high three aces on the night. Junior

On Saturday, the Mountaineers honored their five seniors for Senior Day and recorded a 3-2 victory over the Warhawks. Saturday marked the Mountaineers' fourth five-set victory and second reverse sweep of the season. Fifth-year senior

Ranked Mountaineers
Winterhoff continues to lead the conference in hitting percentage (.359) and ranks 75th in the NCAA. She also leads the SBC and ranks 24th in the NCAA for total blocks this season with 93. Winterhoff stands second in the league for blocks per set, averaging 1.27 this season.
App State stands second in the SBC and 33rd in the NCAA for blocks per set this fall (2.52). The Mountaineers also rank second in the conference and 37th in the NCAA for team total blocks (184). The Black and Gold stand third in the league for aces per set this season, averaging 1.66.
Scouting Marshall
App State posted back-to-back sweeps of newly-minted SBC member Marshall on Oct. 21 and 22, 2022 in Boone.
This season, Lydia Montague is Marshall's top attacker, tallying 196 kills, as well as the top blocker, with 83 blocks. Montague is followed by Brynn Brown, who has 178 kills and Jazminn Parrish, who has 176 kills. Brown is Marshall's leader in the assists category, tallying 592 on the season thus far. Peyton Neal leads in the aces and digs categories with 28 and 286, respectively.
Marshall is 10-12 (2-6 SBC) this season and returns to Huntington, W.Va. after a pair of road losses against Georgia Southern. Marshall is looking to break a five-match losing streak, last winning a match against Georgia State, 3-1, on Sept. 28. Marshall has tallied four 3-0 sweeps this season: two against Bethune-Cookman, one against Queens, and one against Old Dominion.

The Mountaineers will return to Boone to host Old Dominion at the Holmes Convocation Center for their final home matches of the season on Oct. 26 and 27. Both matches are set for 6 p.m. and will be available to stream on ESPN+.
