Field Hockey Continues Road Trip with Visit to Drexel

PHILADELPHIA, PA. – App State field hockey (3-0) looks to win its fourth straight game on Sunday as the Mountaineers visit Drexel for a contest at noon.

Sunday's game will be streamed on FloLive and live stats will be available to follow along.

The Mountaineers won their first road game last night against Rider 1-0. Friederike Stegen scored the winning goal in the second overtime period after 72 minutes of defensive intensity on both sides. Goalkeeper Addie Clark recorded nine saves, the third most of her career.

App State swept its home opening weekend last week with a 4-1 win over Towson and a 5-0 shutout over Georgetown. Stegen, Pauline Mangold and Anna Smarrelli have all been an integral part of these wins, each with three goals in the first three games.

The Dragons (0-2) have started their season with two losses against ranked opponents. They fell 7-1 in their season opener against No. 4 Maryland before losing 5-2 against No. 16 Saint Joseph's.

Avery Powell, Eline Di Leva and Amber Brouwer were the goal-scorers for Drexel against these tough opponents. Goalkeeper Megan Hadfield saved nine shots in the first contest and 11 in the second.

After Sunday's game, App State will play a third straight road game on Friday at 6 p.m at Duke.
