BOONE, N.C. – App State field hockey looks to build on last night's 7-1 victory over CMU with a home game against No. 15 Wake Forest on Sunday at noon.

The Mountaineers had a stellar outing on Friday, featuring a second quarter that saw three goals in one minute of action. Lise Boekaar and Henriette Stegen each scored the first goals of their careers during that stretch.
Friederike Stegen, Anna Smarrelli and Pauline Mangold are leading the offense so far this year. Friederike Stegen paces the Mid-American Conference in goals with seven, while Smarrelli and Mangold are not far behind with five and four, respectively.
Many of those goals have been set up by Carli Ciocco, who leads the conference in assists with seven.
App State's defense has held its opponents to one goal or less in regulation in six of its seven games this season, having allowed two against Kent State.
Addie Clark paces the MAC in goals against average (.927), shutouts (2) and save percentage (.848) among goalkeepers who have played at least three games.
In their last game against a ranked ACC opponent, the Mountaineers took No. 16 Duke to overtime as Clark earned her career high in saves (13). Duke went on to win 2-1 in the extra period.
Scouting No. 15 Wake Forest (5-3, 0-1 ACC)
The Demon Deacons dropped their conference opener to No. 2 North Carolina on Friday, falling 2-0.
Before that, Wake Forest rattled off five wins against Lafayette, UC Davis, Cal, Richmond and No. 23 Ohio State.
Meike Lanckohr paces the team in goals (6) and points (15) and has earned two game-winners. Grace Delmotte has been an integral part of the offense as well, scoring three goals and notching six assists.
