Women's Tennis Hits the Road for Match at ETSU

JOHNSON CITY, TENN. -- App State women's tennis will hit the road on Saturday and face ETSU at noon.

SCOUTING THE MOUNTAINEERS
  • App State fell in its home opener on Saturday to Davidson 4-2.
  • On Saturday, Olwyn Ryan-Bovey and Brooke Gruber teamed up for a 6-1 win at No. 3 doubles. In singles action, Helena Jansen won 6-3, 6-1 at No. 1 singles and Erika Dodridge posted a 6-1, 6-4 win at No. 2 singles. Ryan-Bovey was up 7-6 (3), 4-2 when the match was called.
  • Dodridge and Jansen are tied for the team lead in singles wins with seven each.
  • Dodridge also has five doubles wins this season, which is tops on the team. Her 12 combined victories lead the Mountaineers.
SCOUTING THE BUCCANEERS
  • ETSU stands at 2-6 on the season, after dropping a 4-0 home contest to VCU on Saturday.
  • In singles action, Laylo Bakhodirova and Alejandra Morales are tied for the team lead in singles wins with five each. The duo also has a team-best 5-3 mark in doubles action this season.
  • Frenanda Carvajal and Yunuen Elizarraras are 4-4 as a doubles tandem, with both posting a 3-4 record in singles play.
UP NEXT
App State will play a pair of matches next weekend, hosting UNCG on Feb. 26 and traveling to face Western Carolina on Feb. 27.
