BOONE, N.C. – App State Tennis sophomore
Taya Powell has been named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District team, the organization announced Tuesday.
Boasting a 3.77 GPA, the North Tamworth, Australia native has excelled both academically and athletically. Her strong performance on the court this season earned her a spot on the All-Sun Belt Conference second team for doubles, alongside
Savannah Dada-Mascoll, concluding the 2025 season. Notably, Powell recorded a 6-2 doubles record against conference opponents, including a perfect 3-0 mark at the No. 2 position.
Powell has also been selected as a finalist for the CSC All-American award, with the announcement scheduled for June 3.
To qualify for the All-District team, student-athletes must maintain a GPA above 3.5 and be in the lineup for at least 70% of their team's matches.
