BOONE, N.C. – App State field hockey is set to begin a three-game home stand, starting with Lock Haven on Sunday at 1 p.m. at Brandon & Erica M. Adcock Field.
The game was originally scheduled for noon but has been changed to a 1 p.m. start time due to incoming weather. Fans can tune in on Twitch and live stats will be provided.
The Mountaineers (4-5, 1-2 MAC) dropped their last game on Friday to Miami (OH) after a comeback that saw goals from Friederike Stegen and Rachel Fleig. All of App State's losses have come down to the wire, with each game being decided by just one goal.
Stegen is at the top of the Mid-American Conference in goals with eight, and teammate Carli Ciocco leads the conference in assists with the same number.
Defensively, Addie Clark leads all goalkeepers in the MAC in goals against average (1.361), save percentage (.790) and shutouts (2). Allison Corey is second in the conference in defensive saves with two.
The Bald Eagles (8-1, 1-1 A-10) have had a successful start to the season, dropping just one game to No. 12 Saint Joseph's, 2-0. Lock Haven is undefeated against MAC opponents after defeating Bellarmine, 1-0, and Central Michigan, 2-1.
The team has shared the load offensively, with Jazmin Palma, Martina Spangenberg and Constanza Lopez Zabala each scoring four goals on the season.
Goalkeeper Kelsey Felix has 21 saves on 70 shots for the season and has posted two shutouts.
After Sunday's game, the Mountaineers will host Bellarmine on Friday at 5 p.m. and Longwood on Oct. 14 at 6 p.m.
