BOONE, N.C. - App State field hockey begins a three-game home stand by hosting Miami (OH) on Friday and Davidson on Sunday.
App State has started the fall campaign 2-3 with wins over Towson and No. 24 James Madison. The three hard-fought losses have come against Georgetown, No. 11 Wake Forest and Ohio State.
Offensively, freshman midfielder
Sterre Molkenboer and senior midfielder
Friederike Stegen have led the way for the Black & Gold this season.
Molkenboer has recorded two goals, one assist and a shot on goal percentage of .667. Stegen produced a goal and an assist lifting the Mountaineers to their first ranked win in program history, 2-0 over No. 24 James Madison.
Sophomore midfielder
Grace Ball has made a name for herself defensively this season, winning the Mid-American Conference Defensive Player of the Week last weekend for her effort. Junior goalkeeper
Addie Clark has recorded 35 saves thus far with a season-high of 10 coming against Ohio State.
Friday's game versus Miami (OH) marks the MAC conference opener for the Mountaineers. Last year, the Black and Gold finished 4-8 in the MAC and lost the season series to Miami 0-2. The RedHawks have started the 2021 fall season 2-5.
Davidson is 2-3 on the young season and will host UMASS on Friday before traveling to Boone for Sunday's game. Both of App State's matches this weekend at Brandon & Erica M. Adcock Field will be streamed on
