App State Women’s Soccer Snags the Shutout at FIU

Miami, Fla. – App State women's soccer continues its road streak after the 1-0 victory against FIU on Sunday afternoon in Miami.

App State is now 4-2-1 on the season and 2-0-1 on the road, while FIU falls to 1-7. 

The Mountaineers got on the board, after Breckyn Monteith scored the lone goal of the match in the 25th minute.  She found the bottom-left corner of the net, while Sarah Widderich earned the assist.

Thus far, Monteith leads the way in goals with four and in shots, tallying a total of four this season.

The Panthers held the advantage in shots on goal, 11-3, but the Mountaineer defense remained strong throughout the contest, securing the shutout.

Kerry Eagleston tacked on 11 more saves to her record, following her 20 save record last Sunday against Wake Forest. 

She upped her clean sheet mark to 10 for her career, putting her two away from tying Emma White (2006-09) for fourth all-time in program history. 

App State continues its four-game road series against Georgia Southern on Sept. 16 at 7 p.m. in Statesboro, Ga. for the first conference match. The match will be streamed on ESPN+
