BOONE, N.C. – App State Soccer student-athletes Walker Bristow, Ellie Garrison, Olivia Simon, Shannon Studer and Reagan Sturgill earned Academic All-District honors from the College Sports Communicators (CSC) the organization announced Tuesday.

The 2025 Academic All-District Soccer teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. To qualify, a student-athlete must be a key contributor who earns at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (4.0 scale) and is at least a sophomore both academically and athletically.

A midfielder from Richmond, Va., Bristow played in all 17 games and made seven starts for the Mountaineers. She registered a career-high three assists, including dishing out helpers in wins over Longwood and Southern Miss. The exercise science major boasts a 3.97 cumulative GPA and finished the season with five shots and two shots on goal, while playing a full 90 minutes in the matchup against East Carolina.

A preseason All-Sun Belt selection in 2025, Ellie Garrison started all 17 games for the Mountaineers, scoring five goals and totaling 11 points on the season. The sophomore from Trinity, N.C., was named the Sun Belt Player of the Week following the first week of the season after registering a brace in the season-opening win over Western Carolina and scoring the decisive penalty kick goal against Miami to give App State its first win over an ACC program. Garrison finished the regular season with four game-winning goals, which were tied for the most in the Sun Belt, and ranked 40th nationally. Garrison owns a 3.84 GPA while pursuing a degree in psychology.

A team captain as just a junior, Olivia Simon started all 17 matches this season. Simon ranked third on the team with three goals and scored in back-to-back games versus James Madison (Oct. 5) and at ULM (Oct. 11). Simon played all 90 minutes in five matches this season, finishing the year with 28 shots and 12 shots on target. The finance and banking major holds a 3.68 GPA.

A four-year starter for the Mountaineers, Shannon Studer started 16 games for App State her senior season and played in 68 career games, making 63 starts in her career. The Waxhaw, N.C., native registered two assists to go along with 10 shots and four shots on target. Studer holds a 3.78 GPA and will graduate in December with a degree in finance and banking with a minor in accounting.

A forward from Brooklyn Heights, Ohio, Sturgill took a big step forward in 2025, playing in all 17 games and making her first 11 career starts at App State. Sturgill finished the season with a goal and two assists, recording a career-high four points (all in the final four games), while playing over 1,000 minutes for the first time in her career.
