The Mountaineers moves to 2-0-1 on the young season, while College of Charleston enters Thursday 0-3-1. The Mountaineers have dominated ball possession for the majority of its contests this fall with the freshman class making a big impact in the starting rotation.
Breckyn Monteith notched her second goal for the Black and Gold in two consecutive matches when she found the left-bottom corner of the net. Addie Cooper and Carly Lantz earned the assist for Monteith's strike.

College of Charleston is 0-3-1 this season following a 1-1 draw in two overtime periods against Georgia Southern. Charleston went 0-8-1 overall and 0-3-1 conference last season. The Cougars return starter Gracie Powell, who was named Third Team All-CAA with ten shots and three shots on goal. Meredith Holton returns between the posts after finishing the 2020-21 season with 27 saves.

App State is 1-7-2 in the last 10 matchups against College of Charleston. In the most recent contest in 2012, the Mountaineers recorded a 2-1 victory after two overtime periods. Thursday's match will be the first time that the Mountaineers and the Cougars have met since 2012.
