GREENVILLE, N.C. — With a 6-2 record this season and 17-8 mark in 25 games since the start of 2020, App State opens a weekend series at 17th-ranked East Carolina with a Friday afternoon game at 4 p.m.
Game 2 on Saturday is scheduled for 2 p.m., followed by a Sunday finale at 1 p.m.
The first two games of the series can be seen on ESPN+ by clicking HERE, and Game 3 is scheduled to appear on ECU's web site at this LINK.
App State is scheduled to play a Friday game for the first time this season — because of weather reschedulings, the Mountaineers opened the season with a pair of Saturday doubleheaders. They swept both of those against Winthrop (road) and North Carolina A&T (home).
It's App State's first matchup since 2017 against ECU, which made a Super Regional in 2019 and has appeared in a Regional four of the last five years the tournament was held. In total, the Mountaineers have 11 games scheduled against teams ranked in D1Baseball.com's Preseason Top 25.
Offensively, center fielder Alex Leshock has a team-leading .400 average and .545 on-base percentage through eight games, while Phillip Cole (.355 average, .516 slugging percentage, team-high 10 RBIs), Andrew Terrell (.345 average) and Luke Drumheller (.344 average, .475 on-base percentage) all have double-digit hits.
Drumheller is 9-for-21 at the plate with four additional BBs/HBPs in the last five games.
