Women's Tennis Faces Elon in Wednesday Matinee

BOONE, N.C. - App State women's tennis will travel to Elon, N.C. for a 2 p.m. match on Wednesday against Elon at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center.

Last Time Out
App State hasn't played a match since falling in a narrow 4-3 decision to Wofford on Saturday, Feb. 20. The Mountaineers won the doubles point but were unable to close out the contest as Wofford won four of six singles contests. Helena Figueras highlighted the day with a singles and doubles victory. 

A Win Would
- Improve the Apps record to 2-4.
- Give the Apps their first road win of the season.
- Hand Elon its third loss of the season and snap the Phoenix' four-match win streak.
- Give Elon its home loss of the season. 

Stats Leaders
Figueras leads the Mountaineers in singles wins with two, while she's won both of her matches in the fifth spot. Four other student-athletes each have a victory for the Black and Gold. In doubles, KseniaAleshina/Sandra Anglesjö are 2-1 on the season. Figueras and Poggi are the other tandem with two wins in doubles play. 

Scouting Elon
Elon won its Tuesday contest against Radford, 7-0, to improve to 7-2 on the season and 4-0 at home. Victoria Saldh and LizetteReding are both 6-1 in singles play, while Shauna Galvin is 4-1. The trio leads a singles attack that is 26-14 overall. Sofia Edo/Saldh are 5-2 in doubles to lead the team in doubles. Elon is 10-9 overall this season.

What's Next
App State returns to action this weekend to open Sun Belt play. The Mountaineers will host Georgia State and Georgia Southern on Saturday and Sunday, respectively, at 10 a.m.
