Pisareva and Zacarias Collect Singles Wins in Loss to Charlotte

Box Score JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. - No. 49 App State women's tennis fell to a formidable Charlotte squad by a score of 4-2 on Saturday afternoon.

The Mountaineers fall to 5-3 while Charlotte moves to 10-4 on the season.

App State couldn't get the momentum early with the 49ers capturing the doubles point and picking up the two needed matches to claim the victory.

Highlighting the day for the Black and Gold were Sasha Pisareva and María José Zacarias

The pair tallied both points for the Apps, with Pisareva staying undefeated at 8-0 in singles. The junior dealt Rocio Safont a straight-set 7-5, 6-2 defeat as the No. 1 in the lineup.

Zacarias won her second consecutive match and improved to 5-3 on the season after a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Jenna Dean as the No. 4 in the lineup.

App State will look to bounce tomorrow at 9 a.m. against ESTU.
