Updating Apps in International Play

BOONE, N.C. -- With the season is still 12 days away, other basketball leagues across the world have tipped off. We check up on how App State men's basketball alums are faring:

Andre Williamson (6'8''-C/F-89, graduated '12, plays pro in Cyprus) was the major contributor in Keravnos' victory against the league outsider AEL, crushing them 87-63 in the Cypriot OPAP Basket League in Wednesday night's game. He had a double-double by scoring 16 points and getting 11 rebounds in 22 minutes. In six games so far this season, Williamson is averaging 14.8 points, 7.7 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.2 blocks and 1.3 steals.

Donald Sims (5'11''-G-87, graduated '11, plays in Mexico) led Aaguacateros Michoacan to a victory over Astros (8-10) 101-87 in the Mexican LNBP (second division) last Monday. Sims finished with 26 points and three assists in the victory. Aaguacateros Michoacan (13-5) currently sits in the second place in the West Division. On the season, he is averaging 16.6 points, 1.4 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 1.8 steals.

Isaac Johnson (6'9''-F-98, graduated '20, currently in Portugal) cled Maia Basket (1-4) to a 96-80 in the Portuguese LPB on Wednesday night. He finished 17 points, eight rebounds, five assists and two blocks in 30 minutes. This season, Johnson is averaging 14.5 points, 7.7 rebounds and 2.2 assists in six games.

Griffin Kinney (6'8''-C-95, graduated '18, plays pro in Switzerland) was the main contributor in Neuchatel's 83-71 victory over Lugano  in the Swiss SBL in Saturday night's game. Kinney had a strong performance with 23 points and eight rebounds. Union Neuchatel Basket us 2-2 through its first four games, sitting fourth. Kinney is averaging 11.8 points and 5.0 rebounds on the season.

O'Showen Williams (5'11''-PG, graduated '20, plays in United Kingdom) contributed to a Reading Rockets' victory against the league outsider Thunder 87-77 in the British NBL D1 (second division) last Saturday. In his first professional game, Williams finished with 23 points, 13 rebounds and seven assists in 37 minutes of action.

Ronshad Shabazz (6'5''-G-96, graduated '19, currently in Russia), who plays in the Russian Superleague 1 (second division) finished with nine points in a narrow 85-83 loss to Novosybirsk. In the early going of the season, Shabazz is averaging 8.0 points, 1.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists.

Isaac Butts (6'10''-C-89, graduated '12, plays in Japan) helped Koshigaya Alphas edge the second-ranked Cyberdyne Ibaraki Robots 92-91 in the Japanese B2 League last Sunday. Butts posted a double-double with 22 points, 10 rebounds and five assists. He is averaging 14.9 points, 12.4 rebounds and 3.2 assists on the season.
